¿Qué es la SIC? What is SIC?
The International Week of Computing (SIC) groups from 11 to 18 May 2009 a number of activities to be held in Pamplona, in the Palace of the Condestable, located in the Mayor street:
- The 17th World Computer Chess Championship (WCCC). This tournament pitting the best chess programs in the world. Computers calculate their movements and the developers played on the board.(Live Games)
- The 14th Computer Olympiad tournament similar to the previous one but in which the procedures are theAmazons, Chinese chess, the Draughts, the Go, the Hex, the Shogi, etc.
- The 12th International Conference on Computer Games and "Advances in Computer Games" in which academics from around the world will discuss developments and latest results in research on computer games. Following the success of previous editions, the organizers intend to expand the range of topics, which this year range from the current state of programs and board games and card games, advances in theoretical research to the scientific study of the product of computer games. Are also invited experts to participate in the social aspects of computer gaming and related topics online games.
These three events are organized jointly with the International Computer Games Association (ICGA).
- Talks on Supercomputing in which a panel of experts will tackle from different angles of the current state of this branch of technology and its application in business.
- The conference program also includes a public symposium in which they explain how they designed a chess program and how they have influenced areas such as the pharmaceutical industry and planning for agriculture. Finally a conference that will give an overview of the strategy and decision making in times of crisis, through the experience of a Grand Master of chess.
-During the weekend we made various chess-related activities and technologies are targeted at enthusiasts and schoolchildren, and livened by Leontxo Garcia.
The SIC is aimed at professionals, managers and researchers from companies, universities and technology centers, keen on computer games and school.
